The regular style, as its name suggests, is the standard style of Chinese calligraphy. It is the one that serves as the standard for typed writing. It is according to its model that the Chinese learn to write. It is also a calligraphic style in its own right.
The Regular style is divided into three main styles: the Liu style (in the center of the image below), the Yan style (on the left) and the Ou style (on the right). These styles take their name from their author.
The student of Chinese calligraphy must learn to draw the eight basic strokes and their variants.
