This tool is a Chinese calligraphy template generator. You can choose the size, orientation, and calligraphic style. After generating the template, the result will appear in the right column. If the Chinese calligraphy template suits your needs, you can then download it in PNG format.

Some notes:

1 - Please enter simplified characters only. If you select a traditional calligraphy style, the characters will be automatically converted.

2 - Character size ranges from 10 to 1000 px.

3 - The text cannot be too long (maximum 20 characters).

The Five Classic Major Styles

1. 篆书 - Zhuànshū Seal Script Style

Characteristics: Style of bronze inscriptions. Uniform strokes, rounded angles, symmetrical and elongated structure.

2. 隶书 - Lìshū Clerical Script Style

Characteristics: Flat and broad strokes with the "scribe's wave," square structure. Transition to modern characters.

3. 楷书 - Kǎishū Regular Script Style

Characteristics: Structured and precise style. Distinct and carefully placed strokes.

Famous Variants:

  • 欧体 - Ōu tǐ: Ouyang Xun - rigor and perfect structure
  • 颜体 - Yán tǐ: Yan Zhenqing - robust and vigorous
  • 柳体 - Liǔ tǐ: Liu Gongquan - fusion of Ou and Yan styles
  • 瘦金体 - Shòujīntǐ: Distinctive style created by Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. Recognizable by its thin, firm strokes, sharp knife-like serifs, and elegant, elongated curves.

4. 行书 - Xíngshū Semi-Cursive Script Style

Characteristics: Fast and fluid style ("walking"). Strokes and characters are often connected, yet remain perfectly legible. This is the most commonly used style for everyday handwriting.

Absolute Masters: Wang Xizhi (王羲之), often called the "Sage of Calligraphy"

5. 草书 - Cǎoshū Cursive Script Style

Characteristics: Free and abstract style. Simplified and fully connected strokes.

Other Styles and Specific Calligraphies

甲骨文 - Jiǎgǔwén Oracle Bone Script

Characteristics: Oldest form of Chinese writing, engraved on bones or shells.

魏碑 - Wèibēi Wei Stele Style

Angular and powerful style of inscriptions on steles from the Wei Dynasty.
