Nanjing Road

Nanjing Road 南京路 Nánjīng lù is the main shopping street of Shanghai. A one-kilometer section is reserved for pedestrians. Nanjing Road is considered the Chinese Champs-Élysées. It is a must-see on a visit to Shanghai. Since Nanjing Road starts at the Bund, these two sites are generally visited in the same outing.

Nanjing Road is divided into two parts: the east part 南京东路 Nánjīng dōnglù and the west part 南京西路 Nánjīng xīlù. The east part, which starts at the Bund and extends over 1500 meters, is the most interesting to visit.
