After drawing the outlines, you need to add touches of quite diluted ink. This is what is called Chinese Bai Miao painting with diluted ink.
The elements in the foreground are painted with dense ink. Those in the background are painted with more diluted ink to give an impression of depth.
The flowers are painted first, the leaves second, and the stems last.
